at first it is hard to be humble to realzie you are ONE with all, and thus what some might even call GOD, but then you realize that you are one with all and there is no one else to brag to (^_^)

What zen practice has taught me:
experiences are real.
beliefs that arise in the mind come from ignorance, lack of complete information, partial understandings.
we have all been, to some extent hypnotized or brainwashed by having ideals implanted within us by religion, culture and tradition.
Hold nothing sacred or beyond challenge when it comes to beliefs while seeing the whole of all things including lies, as part of the sacred whole, the perfect reality.
True liberation of the mind comes when one is free of all comparisons and sees what is right in front of him.
acceptance of experiences as they arise without comparisons leads to the greatest clarity of mind.
Every move I make has but one goal. Contentment - freedom from anxiety, pain, need, or desire.
Every move I make is a gamble to some degree.
Peace comes from accepting the consequences of each move and learning from them but never forgetting that the gambling element will never vanish.
as to energy... all energy arises from imbalances of forces... beliefs can cause imbalances of forces and one can learn to manipulate beliefs to accomplish actions.... mind and body tied together. belief effects body as body effects belief.
contentment comes when mind and body flow as one.... pure acceptance matched with learned skill.

Most of the WT stuff is (was) so simplistic and repetitive, that you needn't study anyway.
I thought that the entire time I was a JW...until I met my ex's study, Mary Ann [pretty, sweet, dumber than a stone].
we would go through a book with things like
The name of God is Jehovah....blah blah blah...
what is the name of God?
she would be dumbfounded....I could not believe people could be that dim, but they are really out there....and I understand why the shepherds call them sheep and do not mind fleecing them....baaaaaaaaaa

An ageing organization - depression and dementia?
by jgnat inthe study mental health of the very old.
the experts have a name for it, psychogeriatrics.
i wonder if the organization as a whole is being dragged through the same mental deterioration that an ageing governing body would be subject to?.

From what I read of Fred Franz's Book, it seems just like most world governments, the organization is now run by ghosts. unlike the days when one dynamic leader ran the show...like Russell, Rutherford and Franz behind the scenes for Knorr.
what I mean is that he said a 2/3rd majority had to exist to override anything their now dead predecessors had brought into existance.
so even if more than half of them agreed on a course of action and understood its importance, they could not override the understanding of the dead....
think about how most governments defer to founders and documents which are by the dead who have made it nearly impossible to change their overall intentions except by violent revolution.

during my entire 10 years as a BORG collective member, I never studied the WT once... I read the books and found nothing drasticly changed that a quick read could not tell me.... It suprized me to see how many struggled with understanding what seemed so simplistic.
I quickly realized that those like me had two possible futures....be honest about our intellect and disturb the sheep and be driven out because of being apostates even if we were not...or play stupid and use our intellect to edge into higher offices like MS, Elder, etc...
my family seems to suffer from a lack of dishonesty genes or something, I really detest dishonesty and I only lie when its absolutely convenient (^_^)
btw, nothing taught me how to lie better than being married to a JW gal.

how far would you have gone?
by zen nudist ini recall while i was just a new jw how horrified i was at the "brother" who was bringing me along.... when he told me that he was so sure about the governing body being jehovah's mouth piece, that if one day they announced--this is it, this is the end, kill any and all non-jws in your path....he would do it.

Surely if they were Christ-like as they claim to be they should say be saying "I hope God never asks us to do this ..."
Luk 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay [them] before me. the problem with being christ like in JWs world view is the loving of all including enemies is only a temporary measure until the whistle is blown...and then they watch the enemies die by the sword that procedes out of christs mouth....watch the weeds be tossed to the flames, and the goats go off to destruction....vengence is not removed, only delayed... so it seems perfectly logical to believe that one day they will be asked to murder defenseless women and children just as Moses ordered back in Numbers 31:17

Numbers both literal and symbolic (April 1st Watchtower)
by ozziepost ini wonder how many readers of the watchtower have noticed the seeming inconsistency of the 144,000 teaching in the april 1st issue?.
after discussing the symbolic nature of the numbers 666 on the wild beast comes this statement:.
"immediately after disclosing the number 666, revelation mentions 144,000 followers of the lamb, jesus christ, who have his name and the name of his father, jehovah, written on their foreheads.".

all words are symbols of experiences or instuctions for ordering expeirences.... literal and figurative are still ideas that words may or may not trigger.
the intention of an author and the understanding of a reader can be very far apart if they come from very different backgrounds even though they seem to share the same langauge.... there are a great many guesses and assumptions in what we read based on our back grounds and that is one of the biggest problems computer programmers find in getting computers to understand language....
the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak...
translated into another language and then back into english was returned as
the wine is good, but the meat is spoiled.
the way things are phrased can seem to one to have identicle meaning but to another to be very different...
consider
do not commit adultry vs be faithful to your spouse.
they seem to have the same meaning to many, yet conceptually the images in the mind, the experiences behind the words would drive a computer crazy because they do not match at all.... adulty brings up images of sleeping with someone not ones spouse... while being faithful intially does not, but may in outer levels of assumptions which we are good at seeing on subconscious levels.

it seems to me that anyone who has opinions of their own, anyone who thinks for themselves would be the ones that disfellowshipping and dis-associating would weed out, leaving only the hard core followers and believers behind...
I was picked on quite a bit while in because I would research things and state them in watchtower studies.... I would be praised one week and damned the next for the very same thing... one week the researching supported the other it showed some need of adjustments.
I remember one day the elder on the platform giving a speech and the following came out of his mouth
NO INDEPENDENT THINKING---- that is the way of Satan.
so I asked myself, what other way of thinking is there? dependent thinking.... letting someone else think for you... and that is exactly what all cults want...total submission, total surrender.
WE ARE BORG--- lower your intellect, surrender your will, your financial and physical resources will be made to do field service for us... resistance is futile... submit or be destroyed.

A history of Jehovah's origin
by Gopher ininteresting article from a bangladesh publication.
note the usage of the date 586bce rather than 607bce marking the end of the hebrew monarchy.
also, the article reaches a conclusion about religion's influence on mankind leading it to doomsday!

some claim that Akhenaton influenced the Jews rather than the other way around.
one book I read, by a Jewish professor in NYU claimed that the monotheism and intolerance of Akhenaton caused a civil war which lead to the defeat of his supporters who were exiled... these losers later re-wrote their loss as a victory, the expulsion as a liberation, an exodus.
